Symptoms

WordPress update failed with the warning:

The WordPress installations were updated with errors: 
Installation "example": The update cannot be installed because we will be unable to copy some files. This is usually due to inconsistent file permissions. "wp-admin\/js\/tags-box.js, wp-admin\/js\/editor-expand.js, wp-admin\/js\/bookmarklet.min.js, wp-admin\/js\/customize-nav-menus.min.js, wp-admin\/js\/customize-nav-menus.js, wp-admin\/js\/tags-box.min.js, wp-admin\/css\/edit.min.css

Cause

Incorrect permissions/ownership on some files.

Resolution

Make sure that permissions on these files are 644. Also, these files should be owned by a system user, not by apache.apache Set correct ownership:

# chown -R .psacln /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/wp-admin
