Unable to create a subscription: Job for php-fpm.service failed

Symptoms

1. Subscription creation fails with an error:

Error: phpinimng failed: Job for php-fpm.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status php-fpm.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details. Failed to reload php-fpm service

2. OS is using systemd as init system.

Cause

Number of open files was exceeded on php-fpm reload.

It is a Plesk bug with ID # PPPM-5895 which is planned to be fixed in future Plesk updates.

Resolution

As a workaround, perform the following actions:

  1. Run:
    # systemctl edit php-fpm
  2. Input the record below and save:
    LimitNOFILE=8192
  3. Restart the php-fpm service:
    # systemctl restart php-fpm
