Question
Is there a way to create a backup to an FTP storage without using local storage?
Answer
To back up the server to cloud storage, it is required to have additional free disk space equal to the space occupied by two largest subscriptions, rather than the amount occupied by the entire server.
Also, there is a Multivolume option for scheduled backups that allows splitting tmp backup files to a smaller parts that will save the disk space occupied by .tmp files. This way, it is required to have only twice more free size of the volume size specified in Backup Manager > Schedule https://docs.plesk.ru/display/PPP/Disk+Space+Consumption

Has this changed with Plesk Obsidian? Perhaps using S3 Object Storage remote backup? Is there another way to overcome this issue despite option 1? Thank you for your time.
Yes, this is changed. It is not possible to avoid using at all, but to back up the server to cloud storage, you now need additional free disk space equal to the space occupied by two subscriptions, rather than the amount occupied by the entire server.
Any two subscriptions, or the two largest ones?
Good question Rens! Two largest ones. We updated text accordingly in article.
