Unable to create a backup: The device is not ready

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Windows

Symptoms

The following error occurs in Plesk interface after an attempt to create a backup:

(21, 'GetDiskFreeSpace', 'The device is not ready.')   

Cause

Backup directory is not accessible.

Resolution

Make sure that directories which are defined in the dump registry values are correctly set and accessible. To check this:

  1. Open registry editor
  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PLESK\PSA Config\Config
  3. Check the following values:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PLESK\PSA Config\Config\DUMP_D 
    HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\PLESK\PSA Config\Config\DumpTempDir
