Website shows 503 service unavailable: Could not allocate a new page for database because of insufficient disk space

Applicable to:

  • Plesk Onyx for Windows

Symptoms

The following errors can be found in the EventViewer:

Could not allocate a new page for database 'examplecom_db' because of insufficient disk space in filegroup 'PRIMARY'.
Create the necessary space by dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or
setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.

Cause

Database size reached its maximum disk space.

Resolution

In order to do it at first, it is needed to make a backup of user database as described in this article. To execute all the following it is needed in myLittleAdmin to go to the Tools > New Query . If the increasing of 'FILEGROUTH' variable is chosen then it is needed to execute the following command:

ALTER DATABASE examplecom_Db
MODIFY FILE
(NAME = 'examplecom_db',
FILENAME = X:\DataBase\2014\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER2014\MSSQL\DATA\examplecom_db_examplecom_Db.mdf',
FILEGROWTH = 25%);

That should be executed for increasing the MAXSIZE variable:

ALTER DATABASE examplecom_Db
MODIFY FILE
( NAME = 'examplecom_db',
FILENAME = 'X:\DataBase\2014\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER2014\MSSQL\DATA\examplecom_db_examplecom_Db.mdf',
MAXSIZE = 2048MB);

More about it may be found in the documentation .
