- Plesk for Linux
1. When trying to add a new DNS record, the following error is shown:
# plesk bin dns -a example.com -a spf -ip 203.0.113.2
[2017-08-22 00:30:00] ERR [panel] The limit on serial number changes was reached. No more DNS zone changes can be carried out today.
2. The option Use serial number format recommended by IETF and RIPE is enabled at Plesk > Domains > example.com > DNS Settings > SOA.
3. A massive DNS registry generation has been done previously.
If SOA serial numbers are stored in the format recommended by IETF and RIPE, the number of daily changes of the SOA record is limited by 98 times. If you change a SOA record in a domain 98 times during one day, the SOA serial number cannot be changed any more, clicking the Default button will remove all the records from the DNS zone, and the DNS service for the DNS zone cannot be switched on/off or switched to slave/master mode.
Either try to perform such action the next day or disable the "Use the serial number format recommended by IETF and RIPE" option.
Be aware that it could cause delays in DNS zones update since it may cause registrars to refuse zone update.
