While upgrading to Plesk Onyx, a warning appears: failed to create symbolic link '/var/named/run-root/etc/bind/rndc.conf': File exists

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk Onyx for Linux

Symptoms

While upgrading Plesk 12.5 to Plesk Onyx (and on other occasions before), a warning appears in /tmp/autoinstaller3.log: "ln: failed to create symbolic link '/var/named/run-root/etc/bind/rndc.conf': File exists".

Cause

This is Plesk bug with ID #PPPM-5805 which will be fixed in future updates.

Resolution

This message can be safely ignored. It will not appear in future versions of Plesk.
