Website running on PHP-FPM shows 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable: php-fpm.sock: No such file or directory

Symptoms

Website running on PHP-FPM handler shows 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable. Socket file for this website is not found:

# ls -la /var/www/vhosts/system/example/php-fpm.sock
ls: cannot access /var/www/vhosts/system/example/php-fpm.sock: No such file or directory

Cause

Bug PPPM-5819. Will be fixed in further Plesk updates.

Resolution

Switch PHP handler to any other and back using php_management_tool as described in Multiple PHP Versions in Plesk 12 and higher Out of the Box :

# ./php_management_tool move --from=fpm --to=plesk-php71-fpm 
# ./php_management_tool move --from=plesk-php71-fpm --to=fpm
