Symptoms

Unable to retrieve or update Plesk license:

cURL cannot communicate with license server https://ka.plesk.com:5224/xmlrpc Empty reply from server(52)
cURL cannot communicate with license server https://ka.plesk.com:5224/xmlrpc (): Could not resolve host: ka.plesk.com(6)

The following error appears in %plesk_dir%\admin\logs\php_error.log with enabled debug mode:

Data removed for security reason> SSL data removed for security reason> Data removed for security reason< SSL data removed for security reason* Curl_http_done: called premature == 0
* Empty reply from server
* Connection #0 to host ka.plesk.com left intact cURL verbose output:
* Could not resolve host: ka.plesk.com

Cause

Network configuration issue on virtual host side which is not managed by Plesk.

Resolution

1. Make sure that access to ka.plesk.com is not blocked in Xen/VMWare node, firewall settings or by antivirus. Allow the access if it is blocked.

2. Consider updating Xen/VMWare network drivers.
