Question
Plesk backups are overfilling the disk space. How to limit the number of server-wide backups stored in Plesk?
Answer
Via Plesk GUI
-
Go to Tools & Settings > Backup Manager > Settings.
-
Change the value of Maximum number of full backup files to store according to your needs and apply the changes.
Note: The limit is related to full backup files only (the number of incremental backups is not limited). In case there are both scheduled and manual backups, specific rotation logic is applied.

# plesk bin server_pref -u -max-backup-files 1
Hi there
You know, this feature is being absolutely ignored by my Plesk.
I have a small VM with Plesk, and I have set "2" (two) as the maximum full backups to be retained. However, the disk is being exhausted with daily full and/or incremental backups. I tried to change this setting from both web interface, and also command line, as Boss suggested here above. Old backup files aren't being deleted at all.
Check the screenshot below: Backup for Nov 1st cannot be done due to lack of space, but it seems that there are 3 full backups already in place. The maximum is set to 2.
Why is not deleting at least the older?
Gabriel Schillaci This feature applies only to backups from the same level. On your screenshot two backups are from server wide (since they have corresponding note) and 3rd backup from 4-th of October is created under domain level.
