Why a website is accessible even when its domain is suspended in Plesk?

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Windows
  • Plesk for Linux

Question

Why a website example.com is accessible even though the status of its domain in Plesk > Subscriptions > example.com is Suspended ?

Answer

  1. When the website is visited for the first time, web browser saves the files required for displaying the website in browser cache. When the website is re-visited and is not actually accessible, the browser loads local content that is still stored in the cache. That is why the website looks accessible.

To activate the domain, go to Plesk > Subscriptions > example.com and click on Activate link.

  2. The other reason for such behavior is that Status of websites if this subscription is suspended option is set to Active in Hosting Parameters tab in hosting plan of the subscription. Check Hosting Parameters article for more information
