Unable to save fail2ban settings: f2bmng failed: ERROR Found no accessible config files

Symptoms

Enabling intrusion detection under Home > Tools & Settings > IP Address Banning (Fail2Ban) > Settings leads to error in Plesk:

PLESK_ERROR: Error: Unable to save the settings: f2bmng failed: ERROR Found no accessible config files for 'filter.d/<additional configuration file name>' under /etc/fail2ban
ERROR No section: 'Definition'
...

Cause

Fail2ban custom jails misconfiguration.

Resolution

  1. Open the list of jails and switch off manually configured ones:
    Tools & Settings > IP Address Banning > Jails > select custom ones from the list > Switch off:

  2. Switch on intrusion detection under Tools & Settings > IP Address Banning > Settings > Enable intrusion detection > OK:
