Unable to set memory_limit for a domain to -1(unlimited): An incorrect value was specified

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Linux

Symptoms

Unable to set PHP option memory_limit for a domain to -1(unlimited) at Plesk > Domains > example.com > PHP settings > memory_limit :

An incorrect value was specified. Type in an integer number and a shorthand character (K for kilobyte, M for megabyte, G for gigabyte, for example, 128M)

Cause

This is by design. Plesk GUI does not allow set such value in this field.

Resolution

Set the required value at Plesk > Domains > example.com > PHP settings > Additional directives :

memory_limit = -1

As a workaround:

1. Login to a server via SSH.

2. Modify or create a file if it does not exist with vi /var/www/vhosts/system/example.com/conf/php.ini command and add memory_limit = -1 in the [php] section:

# vi /var/www/vhosts/system/example.com/conf/php.ini
[php]
memory_limit=-1

3. Update PHP settings with the command:

# /usr/local/psa/bin/php_settings -u
