Migration failed: cannot allocate memory

Note: This article has the reference to the issue with the fix available:

  • #PMT-3412 "Adjusting application settings could work infinitely in case when the parent folder of a web site on the source server contained symbolic links."
    Fixed in:
Please consider updating your server:

Symptoms

Migration of example.com subscription from ISPManager to Plesk Onyx failed with errors like:

Failed to perform an action .... cannot allocate memory.

Symlinks on parents folder are present on the source server, e.g.:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 user group 1 Mar  4  2014 /var/www/vhosts/example.com/example -> .
lrwxrwxrwx 1 user group 1 Mar  4  2014 /var/www/vhosts/example.com/www -> .

Cause

This is Plesk Migrator bug #PMT-3412 that was fixed in Plesk Migrator 2.5 .

Resolution

Plesk Migrator updates automatically, no special actions are required.

In case the Plesk Migrator is updated but the issue persists, apply a workaround:

1. Remove the symlinks from the source server:

# rm /var/www/vhosts/example.com/example
# rm /var/www/vhosts/example.com/www

2. Migrate example.com subscription.

3. Create the symlinks manually:

# cd /var/www/vhosts/example.com/
# ln -s . example
# ln -s . www

4. Make sure that user and group owners are correct.
