Backup to FTP failed: INFO: ArchiveStreamReader::ReadFile. Break 1

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Note: This article has the reference to the issue with the fix available:

  • #PPPM-5407 "Attempting to restore a corrupted Plesk backup stored on an FTP repository or to create an incremental backup based on it rapidly consumed all available disk space on the server."
    Fixed in:
Please consider updating your server:

Symptoms

Symptoms Incremental backup hangs and consumes all disk space on a Plesk server if the previous backup to FTP is corrupted (for example, when it failed due to the lack of free disk space on the FTP server and backup structure got corrupted). The following error appears in /var/log/plesk/PMM/backup-date-*/backup.log :

INFO: ArchiveStreamReader::ReadFile. Break 1
INFO: ArchiveStreamReader::ReadFile. Break 1
INFO: ArchiveStreamReader::ReadFile. Break 1
INFO: ArchiveStreamReader::ReadFile. Break 1
INFO: ArchiveStreamReader::ReadFile. Break 1

This error is going on to a loop and as a result backup.log file occupies all free disk space on a Plesk server.

Cause

This is an internal issue with ID #PPPM-5407 , which is planned to be fixed in future product updates.

Resolution

As a workaround apply one of the custom fixes below:

  1. Download custom fix
  2. Unpack it and replace /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/pmm-ras with patched one. Previously create a backup of such file:

Ubuntu 12.04 x64 Plesk 12.5

# wget https://plesk.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/115000838105/ubunutu12_pmm_ras.zip
# unzip ubunutu12_pmm_ras.zip
# cp /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/pmm-ras{,.saved}
# cp ./pmm-ras /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/pmm-ras
# stat /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/pmm-ras | grep Access
Access: (0750/-rwxr-x---) Uid: (0/root) Gid: (0/root)

Debian 8 x64 Plesk 12.5

# wget https://plesk.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/115000838085/debian8_pmm_ras.zip
# unzip debian8_pmm_ras.zip
# cp /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/pmm-ras{,.saved}
# cp ./pmm-ras /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/pmm-ras
# stat /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/pmm-ras | grep Access
Access: (0750/-rwxr-x---) Uid: (0/root) Gid: (0/root)

CentOS 7 x64 Plesk 12.5

# wget https://plesk.zendesk.com/hc/article_attachments/115003000945/centos7_pmm_ras.zip
# unzip centos7_pmm_ras.zip
# cp /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/pmm-ras{,.saved}
# cp ./pmm-ras /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/pmm-ras
# stat /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/pmm-ras | grep Access
Access: (0750/-rwxr-x---) Uid: (0/root) Gid: (0/root)
