Backup notifications are not delivered

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Windows

Symptoms

Backup notification emails are not delivered:

  • admin@example.com is set as an email in Administrator Profile in Plesk and external SMTP authenticator
  • john.doe@example.com is set as a recipient for backup notifications
  • The following records can be found in SmarterMail log:

Cause

"From" address does not match authenticated address. Therefore it may cause issues with the spam filters or SmarterMail configuration.

Resolution

In Plesk Onyx:

In %plesk_dir%\admin\share\pmmcli\pmmcli-rc uncomment the following entries and specify sender email address (e.g. email of Plesk administrator):

# Notification mail 'mail-from' parameter
NOTIFICATION_MAIL_FROM "admin@example.com"
# Notification mail 'mail-reply-to' parameter
NOTIFICATION_MAIL_REPLYTO "admin@example.com"
