Antivirus detects Plesk binaries as infected

Symptoms

Antivirus threats all or particular Plesk distribution files or Plesk binaries as infected.

Conditions

False positive

Resolution

1. Recheck detected file with other antiviruses by submitting the sample to virustotal.com website

2. If it reports that the file is clean, so there is a false positive.

3. Add the following Plesk binaries folders into antivirus exclusion list:

%plesk_bin%
%plesk_bin64%
%plesk_cli%
%plesk_dir%\Additional

Usually, these variables point to:

plesk_bin=C:\Program Files (x86)\Plesk\admin\bin
plesk_bin64=C:\Program Files (x86)\Plesk\admin\bin64
plesk_cli=C:\Program Files (x86)\Plesk\bin
plesk_dir=C:\Program Files (x86)\Plesk\

4. Report false positive to antivirus vendor.
