VirusTotal extension does not provide any output or report after scanning

Symptoms

VirusTotal extension does not provide any output or report after scanning:

Cause

Domain resolution is enabled, so VirusTotal will store reports for those domains only that have global DNS

Resolution

If a domain does not resolve globally, disable resolving in VirusTotal > Settings > check Disable domain resolving option, click OK:

After that links to reports will be available.

If the report shows WHOIS information, it means that domain is fine and nothing suspicious was found.

Additional information:

VirusTotal works as follows: it does not scan actual files, it scans URLs only in domain's root directory. It cannot scan actual files for a domain as all information scanned under VirusTotal gets sent to VirusTotal directly and it is accessible to anyone. That's why VirusTotal cannot scan actual files for security reasons.
