Backups are configured to be stored on FTP but disk space is still getting consumed

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Linux

Symptoms

All backups are configured to be stored on FTP storage, however disk space is still getting consumed on Plesk Onyx.

Backups are getting uploaded without any issue, but disk space on local storage is getting decreased after each execution of scheduled backup tasks.

Cause

Another domain task is configured to create backup locally.

Resolution

Find if there is a scheduled backup task on domain level configured to use local repository:

MariaDB [psa]> select id, obj_id, obj_type,repository,last,period,active from BackupsScheduled where repository="local";

+----+----------+----------+------------+---------------------+--------+--------+
| id | obj_id | obj_type | repository | last | period | active |
+----+----------+----------+------------+---------------------+--------+--------+
| 2 | 3 | domain | local | 2016-12-30 00:58:04 | 86400 | true |
+----+----------+----------+------------+---------------------+--------+--------+

If the one is found, find domain name using obj_id value as follows and remove such task in Plesk or set it to use FTP backup storage:

MariaDB [psa]> select id, name from domains where id = 3;
