- Plesk for Linux
When MD5 crypt hash is specified as readily-encrypted password, it does end up in the "accounts" table verbatim, but the user can not log into roundcube webmail. An example command line:
# mail -c firstname.lastname@example.org -mailbox true -passwd_type encrypted -passwd '$1$ohvahliu$OjADIEN3DK4z4ejtT8bWc0'
As a result, it is not possible to log into mailbox in Roundcube.
Digest-MD5 authentication which is used by Roundcube by default does not work for hashed passwords.
Product bug #PPPM-6504 , which is planned to be fixed in one of the future Plesk updates.
As a workaround, apply the steps below:
Connect to the server using SSH
Add the following line to switch Roundcube to login authentication scheme, in
CONFIG_TEXT: $config['imap_auth_type'] = 'PLAIN';
Note: there is a similar problem with sieve filters: sieverules fails to authenticate with error.
As a workaround, additionally add the following into
$config['sieverules_auth_type'] = 'LOGIN';
