Unable to empty domain's apache log: it still consumes a lot of disk space

Symptoms

Unable to empty domain's apache log using the following command:

# touch 0 > /var/log/httpd/error_log

So error_log still occupies a lot of disk space in Domains > example.com > Logs > Manage Log Files

Cause

It is global Apache error log is stored in /var/log/httpd directory. Domain's apache error log is stored in /var/www/vhosts/system/example.com/logs for Plesk 11.5 and later and in /var/www/vhosts/example.com/statistics/logs for Plesk 11.0 and below

Resolution

Emptify the correct log file for a domain, not a global apache file: For Plesk 11.5 and later:

# echo 0 > /var/www/vhosts/system/example.com/logs/error_log

For Plesk 11.0 and older:

# echo 0 > /var/www/vhosts/example.com/statistics/logs/error_log
