Is it possible to create a mail forwarding without leaving a copy of all messages in the original mailbox?
Is it possible to create a forwarding rule for a non-existing email address?
The Mailbox (ability to store mail on the server) and Forwarding (mail forwarding to another mailbox) features can be configured in Plesk independently.
When creating a new mail address in Domains > example.com > Mail > Create Email Address, follow the steps:
Uncheck the Mailbox checkbox.
Note: the mailbox will not be available for sending emails
On the Forwarding tab, select the Switch on mail forwarding checkbox and specify the addresses to which mail messages need to be forwarded.
Click OK to finish the creation of a mail address.
For already existing mail addresses the Mailbox feature can be disabled also:
Go to Domains > example.com > Mail > email@example.com uncheck the Mailbox checkbox and click OK.
If required, add the necessary forwarding rules on the Forwarding tab.
Note: When Mailbox checkbox is Uncheck then this mailbox is unavailable for sending emails.
The feature of enabling email forwarding without saving emails and leaving mailbox available for sending email is yet to be implemented in Plesk. You can vote for this feature on Plesk User Voice portal.
As a workaround this functionality can be achieved by configuring filter rules in webmail:
Go to Plesk > Domains > example.com > Email Addresses > firstname.lastname@example.org > open webmail icon.
Or just login to webmail directly by accessing
webmail.example.comin your web browser:
Settings > Filters > New Filter > name filter > All Messages > Discard Message > Save.
Mail > Filters > New Rule > name filter > All of the following > To / Contains / example.com > Delete Message completely > Save.
Note: If mailbox on the server will not be used at all, it is possible to disable it in Domains > example.com > Mail Accounts > email@example.com > Mailbox - uncheck.
