How are auto-updates for Wordpress triggered in Plesk?

Question

How are auto-updates for Wordpress triggered in Plesk?

Answer

APS applications, including WordPress, are updated during DailyMaintenance task using UpdateApsApplications key. The full list of available keys can be found in the Knowledge base article #213903585.

During  DailyMaintetance task execution, "forceUpdates" value is checked in WordpressInstanceProperties table of PSA database and if it is set to "true", the task proceeds with updating the application.

Check if the value is set to "true" as in the example below:

# plesk db
select id from domains where name="example.com";
+----+
| id |
+----+
|  6 |
+----+
select id from Subscriptions where object_id=6;
+----+
| id |
+----+
|  6 |
+----+
select id from WordpressInstances where subscriptionId=6;
+----+
| id |
+----+
|  1 |
+----+
select * from WordpressInstanceProperties where name="forceUpdates" AND wordpressInstanceId=1;
+---------------------+--------------+-------+
| wordpressInstanceId | name        | value |
+---------------------+--------------+-------+
|                  1 | forceUpdates | true  |
+---------------------+--------------+-------+
