How do I allow SSI scripts to use extensions other than .shtml?

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Linux/Unix

Resolution

To allow other extensions to be recognized as SSI scripts you must add the extensions to appropriate handler in the main Apache configuration file $HTTPD_CONF_D /httpd.conf.

For Apache 1.3 it will be:

AddType text/html .shtml
AddHandler server-parsed .shtml

in Apache 2.0:

AddType text/html .shtml
AddOutputFilter INCLUDES .shtml

Once the changes have been done Apache needs to be restarted.
