When setting up IMAP on my mail client I'm not able to create a top-level folder, only subdirectories of the Inbox folder. Do I have to provide a specific root folder path?

Applicable to:

  • Plesk

Resolution

Yes, it is needed to define INBOX as root folder path in mail account preferences of mail client you use. For example for Microsoft Outlook:

- on the Tools menu, click Accounts,
- select your IMAP server from the Accounts list,
- click Properties, and then click the IMAP tab,
- specify INBOX as the path in the Root Folder Path box.
