Symptoms

Unnecessary IP is assigned on a server every time after the reboot, but IPs are assigned statically. The following logs are found in /var/log/messages:


avahi-daemon[6378]: Found user 'avahi' (UID 70) and group 'avahi' (GID 70).
avahi-daemon[6378]: Successfully dropped root privileges.
avahi-daemon[6378]: avahi-daemon 0.6.16 starting up.
avahi-daemon[6378]: WARNING: No NSS support for mDNS detected, consider installing nss-mdns!
avahi-daemon[6378]: Successfully called chroot().
avahi-daemon[6378]: Successfully dropped remaining capabilities.
avahi-daemon[6378]: No service found in /etc/avahi/services.
avahi-daemon[6378]: New relevant interface eth0.IPv6 for mDNS.
avahi-daemon[6378]: Joining mDNS multicast group on interface eth0.IPv6 with address fe80::*e85:b5a9.
avahi-daemon[6378]: New relevant interface eth0.IPv4 for mDNS.
avahi-daemon[6378]: Joining mDNS multicast group on interface eth0.IPv4 with address 10.10.10.10.
avahi-daemon[6378]: Network interface enumeration completed.
avahi-daemon[6378]: Registering new address record for fe80::*fe85:b5a9 on eth0.
avahi-daemon[6378]: Registering new address record for 10.10.10.10 on eth0.

Cause

Avahi-daemon is used to assign IPs on a server

Resolution

Either disable avahi-daemon completely, or exclude a certain interface from avahi configuration file /etc/avahi/avahi-daemon.conf:


deny-interfaces=eth0

Contact your network administrator for further assistance as this is not Plesk-related issue
