Domain is missing from Plesk, but its website exists on disk

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk Onyx for Linux

Symptoms

A domain is missing in Plesk.There are no any backups of server, or databases.The DocumentRoot directory of the domain with all its content exist on the file system.

Cause

Database inconsistency or the domain was created outside of Plesk.

Resolution

  1. Copy the website directory to another location on the server:

    # cp -pR /var/www/vhosts/example.com/ /root
  2. Manually create the domain with the same name under Home > Domains > Add Domain

  3. Copy the directory from the Step 1 to /var/www/vhosts/example.com :

    # yes | cp -r /root/*name of website* /var/www/vhosts/

The first word is needed to allow overwriting.

  1. Repair permissions of the vhosts directory:
    # plesk bin repair --restore-vhosts-permissions
