Symptoms

Plesk license got invalid after upgrade to Plesk Onyx:

Error: The license key is invalid. In order to use Plesk, you need to obtain and install a new valid license key.The license key is intended only for use with Plesk operating inside the following virtual environments: Virtuozzo containers, VMWare, Microsoft Hyper-V, Xen, KVM, Virtuozzo Server, LXC, Docker.

Plesk detects my virtual machine as dedicated.

Cause

Plesk Onyx cannot detect VMware virtual machine. This is Plesk bug with id PPPM-5257 that is planned to be fixed in future Plesk updates.

Resolution

As a workaround:

  1. Replace file /opt/psa/admin/sbin/filwrpr with a patched copy from the attachment .

  2. Set proper file permissions:

    # chmod 750 /opt/psa/admin/sbin/filwrpr
