Subscription creation fails : Unable to getpwnam for user

Note: This article has the reference to the issue with the fix available:

  • #EXTPMS-1200 "A new subscription was created without hosting if its service plan had the “SSH access to the server shell under the subscription’s system user parameter set to /bin/bash(chrooted)."

Symptoms

  • Plesk Multi Server.

  • Subscription created under the Service Plan where Hosting Parameters > SSH access to the server shell is set to /bin/bash(chrooted) has no hosting.

  • The following error appears in Plesk:

    Error: filemng failed: filemng: Unable to getpwnam for user example.com User example.com not found move process 1111 to cgroup for user example.com failed
  • The following records can be found in /var/log/plesk/panel.log :

    ERR [util_exec] proc_close() failed ['/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/filemng' 'user' 'file_exists' '/var/www/vhosts/example.com/bin'] with exit code [1]
    ERR [1] '/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/filemng' 'user' 'file_exists' '/var/www/vhosts/example.com/bin' failed with code 1.

Cause

Such behavior is known as a bug with id #EXTPMS-1200 and will be fixed in further product updates.

Workaround

  1. Download and unzip the fix .

  2. Move/delete the old file Supervisor.php :

    # mv /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/modules/plesk-multi-server/hooks/Supervisor.php /root/Supervisor.php.backup
  3. Place the file from the fix instead of the moved one:

    # mv Supervisor.php /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/modules/plesk-multi-server/hooks/
