PHPMyAdmin adds \\\\r\\\ for newlines content on database export

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk Onyx for Linux

Note: This article has the reference to the issue with the fix available:

  • #PPPM-5418 "On servers with phpMyAdmin version 4.6.5.1 installed, exporting a MySQL database in the .sql format resulted in a malformed database dump that could not be imported."
    Fixed in:
Please consider updating your server:

Symptoms

In case of creating a database export as .sql file with phpMyAdmin content contained newlines and carriage returns, an additional backslash is added (for example: \\\\r\\\ ) to the content.

Because of this, such exports cannot be restored to the original database when imported to the database.

Cause

This is Plesk bug with ID #PPPM-5418 which was fixed in Plesk Onyx Update 14 and Plesk 12.5.30 Update 59 . Also, it is fixed for phpMyAdmin 4.6.5.2 and above.

Resolution

Install the latest Plesk micro-updates .

I did replace the file as described, but get a 500 server error now when visiting the export page

@Mathias, restore the original file from backup and make sure that you have phpMyAdmin version 4.6.5.1, if no install latest Plesk updates and re-apply fix.

Let me know if it will not work

@Vitaly: I already did this. I have installed the most recent Plesk version with phpMyAdmin 4.6.5.1. I did not find any error log location where I can get more details regarding the 500 server error. Any further ideas?

@Bruno, can you give me more details? In which cases you still have this issue?
