Migration fails: Failed to connect to target Plesk server by Plesk API: urlopen error [Errno 111] Connection refused

Symptoms

  • Migration fails with the error message:

    Failed to connect to target Plesk server by Plesk API: <urlopen error [Errno 111] Connection refused>
  • In the file /usr/local/psa/PMM/logs/<time_of_migration>/debug.log the following information can be found:

  • Fail2Ban is installed on a source server. The target server IP address 203.0.113.2 is banned by Fail2Ban on the source server. It can be checked at Plesk > Tools & Settings > IP Address Banning (Fail2Ban) > Banned IP Addresses or in Fil2Ban log file /var/log/fail2ban.log :

    # zgrep "203.0.113.2" /var/log/fail2ban.log* | grep "Ban 203.0.113.2"
    /var/log/fail2ban.log:2016-12-11 21:42:03 fail2ban.actions [11368]: NOTICE [recidive] Ban 203.0.113.2

Cause

Plesk Migrator cannot connect to the source server because the destination server IP address is banned.

Resolution

Add the banned IP address to the trusted IP addresses at Plesk > Tools & Settings > IP Address Banning (Fail2Ban) > Trusted IP Addresses .
