Common issues

  • Cannot open File manager: "Unable to get file (C:\Inetpub\vhosts\domain.tld) attributes: (5) Access is denied"

    Error when accessing the File Manager:

    Internal error: Unable to get file (C:\Inetpub\vhosts\domain.tld) attributes: (5) Access is denied. at execute "C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Plesk\admin\bin\filemng.exe" domftp_user list dirs C:\Inetpub\vhosts\domain.tld\(RunTime::RunAsUser::run line 260) (Error code 1)
    

    Error while trying to change permissions with the Plesk File manager:

    Access is denied. (Error code 5) at retrieves attributes for file or directory D:\Inetpub\vhosts\domain.tld\.plesk\.Security

    The issue can be caused by the following:

    • Permissions on the virtual host directory are corrupted and the subscription's main FTP user does not have permission to access the subscription's directories.
    • Absence of 'Plesk Administrator' user in local Administrators group

  • 'Internal error: Access denied' when trying to access Plesk web GUI File Manager after reconfiguring the permissions for FTP

    Unable to access the files and folders through Plesk GUI File Manager. It fails with the following error message:

    Before creating/removing an ftp account, some new folder was created in the webspace folder, after that ' %plesk_cli%\repair.exe ' utility was called with ' --repair-webspace-security ' option.

    This is Internal software issue with internal ID #PPPM-3043 . It will be fixed in future Plesk updates.

    Workaround is described in KB # 122547

  • Unable to access File Manager: Unable to init new groups for user xx: Operation not permitted System error 1

    Unable to access File Manager or Logs section for domain. The following error is shown:

    Internal error: filemng: Unable to init new groups for user xx: Operation not permitted System error 1: Operation not permitted

    The root cause of the issue is incorrect permissions on 'wrapper' files.

  • When I open File Manager, I get "Operation failed" error.

    FileList::init() failed: ls_dir_wrapper() failed: Unable to logon user (PLESK900W2K3\USER1): (1326) Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.

  • Unable to open Plesk file manager for the domain. Internal error: Unable to lookup SID for name. Unable to lookup SID for name username: (1332)

    Unable to open file manager for the domain. The following error appears:

    Internal error: Unable to get file (C:\Inetpub\vhosts\example.com) attributes: (5) Access is denied. at execute "C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Plesk\admin\bin\filemng.exe" precision list dirs C:\Inetpub\vhosts\example.com\(RunTime::RunAsUser::run line 260) (Error code 1)

    The root cause is as follows:

    • The fp_adm username is improperly set.
    • User username does not exist

    Resolution is described in KB # 125468

  • "Unable to lookup SID for the name IUSR_example.com: (1332) No mapping between account names and security IDs was done. (Error code 1)"

    When you open the File Manager in Plesk, the following error is shown:

    Unable to lookup SID for name IUSR_example.com: (1332) No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.
    (Error code 1)
    

    OR

    Unable to lookup SID for name IWPG_example.com: (1332) No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.
    (Error code 1)
    

    When you run %plesk_cli%\repair.exe --repair-webspace-security -webspace-name example.com , the above errors are shown in CLI.

    Migration finishes with the following warning:

    Can not deploy web-content of domain example.com
    Warning:
    ForeignMigratorCore.MigratorException: System.Exception: Get flags failed of user (IUSR_example.com): (2221) The user name could not be found.
    

    The root cause is not existing user in the system

  • Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password

    When attempting to access File Manager, file sharing, or change domain user credentials, the following error appears:

  • Can not extract files from zip archive via Plesk File Manager

    Unable to extract/create archives via Plesk File Manager. Also it is not possible to export packed database dump. The following error is shown:

    Unable to create the archive: 7-Zip 9.20 Copyright (c) 1999-2010 Igor Pavlov 2010-11-18 Error: 7-Zip cannot find the code that works with archives. at (CreateZip::onRunAsUser line 2773).
    

    This issue can happen when 7-Zip is not properly installed on server

  • Unable to upload file using File manager: Unable to create file

    When trying to upload a file on any subscription using File Manager , the following error message is shown:

    Unable to create file '%plesk_dir%\tmp\{3caad047-17b2-11e4-a1f5-001422b15289}': (5) Access is denied. at execute "%plesk_dir%\admin\bin\filemng.exe" admin_361 --temp-file "--destination=%plesk_dir%\tmp"(RunTime::RunAsUser::run line 260) (Error code 1)
    
    Some files were not uploaded due to an error. The remaining files will not be uploaded.
    

    OR

    Filemng failed: Unable to create file
    

    The issue is caused by incorrect permissions on %plesk_dir%\tmp folder.

  • File manager error: "FileList::init() failed: ls_dir_wrapper() failed: Unable to logon user (XXXXXXX)"

    File Manager error:

    FileList::init() failed: ls_dir_wrapper() failed: Unable to logon user (XXXXXXX): (1331) Logon failure: account currently disabled.

    The issue cam happen if either subscription or main/default domain in subscription disabled/suspended.

  • Unable to edit files using "Plesk File Manager"

    It is not possible to edit files using Plesk File Manager (under Home - Subscriptions - example.com - Websites & Domains - Files ).

    The owner of files is changing from the system user of subscription to additional FTP user in case of renaming the system user of subscription.

    This issue has been confirmed as a software issue with internal ID #PPPM-1472

    The issue has been completely fixed in the latest 12 version of Plesk according to Plesk 12 Release Notes . Consider upgrading your Plesk to the latest version.

  • "Full path is undefined" when accessing domain hosting settings or file manager

    One of the following errors is being displayed when opening domain hosting settings or file manager after upgrade of Plesk Panel:

    Internal error: Full path is undefined.
    Message         Full path is undefined.

    OR

    The issue happens if entries from the 'hosting' table were removed due to the Plesk upgrade failure

  • "Internal error: U: (1326) L (Error code 1)" when accessing File Manager

    After upgrading to version 11.5, an attempt to open File Manager for domains that existed before the upgrade shows this error:

    Error in Windows Event Viewer:

    Unable to thread impersonate run without profile: U: (1326) L

    The issue happens if Plesk accounts cache is not in sync with the actual accounts on the system.

    Resolution is described in KB # 116310

  • Unable to access file manager: Invalid URL was requested

    File manager is not accessible if "Classic List" is enabled under the Websites & Domains , the following error is being displayed:

    Error: Invalid URL was requested.
    

    Such behavior is considered to be a software issue, internal ID is PPPM-1795 . The issue should be fixed in further Parallels Plesk updates.

    Workaround is described in KB # 122297

  • File manager is not accessible: filemng failed: filemng: opendir failed: Permission denied

    Unable to access File Manager on one of domains. The following error is shown:

    Internal error: Unable to find the directory /var/www/vhosts/example.com/: filemng failed: filemng: opendir failed: Permission denied System error 13: Permission denied

    Also it is not possible to connect to this domain using FTP:

    421 Service not available, remote server has closed.
    

    The root cause is incorrect permissions on domain's folder.
